What kind of properties do you work on?
Working with a diverse range of clients and spaces is a privilege. From charming weatherboard cottages to luxurious multi-million-dollar properties, and from knock-down rebuilds to new constructions, I approach each project with a fresh perspective. Every home and business is unique, and my role is to tailor colour solutions that reflect that individuality. By deeply understanding each client’s needs, I can ensure that every space is as distinct and exceptional as the people who share it.
How do you approach each new job?
When working with clients, I begin by identifying a personal touchstone—whether it's a beloved artwork, the surrounding environment, or their lifestyle preferences. Sometimes, it’s a collection of inspirational images that the client has gathered that sparks the process. This starting point allows me to create a colour palette that harmonises with significant elements like flooring, cabinetry, and benchtops … or I can help specify those too.
Any hot tips for future clients?
I advise clients against the common pitfall of buying test pots and painting patches on walls, which can lead to confusion and overwhelm. Instead, we provide clients with A4-sized swatches of the designed colour palette. These swatches can be easily moved around the home and viewed under different lighting conditions.
Do you have a favourite white?
With a vast array of whites, each with its own undertone, the key is to find the right one. There is no universal white that works for everyone; instead, the perfect shade must be carefully chosen by a trained eye.
